Maccelli is a 25-year-old winger – who will turn 26 on Oct. 14 – from Turku, Finland. He is listed at 5’11, 187 lbs.

HIS STATS

Maccelli has recorded 169 points (51G, 118A) in 295 games with Arizona, Utah and Toronto. Maccelli’s 169 points are ninth most from the 2019 Draft class. Maccelli’s current ranking outpaces his selection, as he was taken by Arizona in the fourth round (98^th overall).

Maccelli broke into the league with Arizona, playing 169 games with the club after making his NHL debut in March 2022, recording 112 points (29G, 83A) over that span. He relocated with the team for Utah’s inaugural year and recorded 18 points (8G, 10A) in 55 games in 2024-25. Most recently, Maccelli played 71 games for the Toronto Maple Leafs last season, logging 39 points (14G, 25A).

HE’S A PLAYMAKER

Maccelli recorded 38 assists in 2022-23, a career-high 40 assists in 2023-24 and 25 assists last season in Toronto.

Maccelli’s 118 assists are sixth-most among 2019 draftees.

While primarily a playmaker, Maccelli has hit double-digit goals in three of the past four seasons, with a career-high 17 in 2023-24.

HE MADE THE NHL ALL-ROOKIE TEAM IN 2023

Maccelli was named to the NHL’s All-Rookie Team in the 2023-23 season after recording 49 points (11G, 38A) in 64 games. Maccelli finished fourth in Calder Trophy voting that season, behind Seattle’s Matty Beniers, Edmonton’s Stuart Skinner and Buffalo’s Owen Power.

HE WAS THE LIIGA ROOKIE OF THE YEAR IN 2020

Prior to coming over to North America, Maccelli played two seasons for Ilves in Liiga, Finland’s top professional league. Maccelli was Liiga’s Rookie of the Year in 2019-20, with 30 points (13G, 17A) in 43 games. Maccelli recorded the most goals, assists and points of any rookie in Liiga that season.

As a sophomore, he recorded 39 points (15G, 24A) in 51 games.

HE’S WORN 63 IN THE PAST

Maccelli has worn 63 in each of his NHL stops. While his number hasn’t been confirmed with the Islanders, if he does wear 63, he’ll be the first player since Josef Vasicek did so in 2007-08.

HE REPRESENTS FINLAND INTERNATIONALLY

Don’t let the last name fool you, Maccelli represented Finland at the 2020 World Juniors, recording five points (2G, 3A) in seven games, as Finland finished fourth.
