SAN JOSE — In his NHL season debut, William Stromgren delivered.

The Flames winger's goal midway through the third period stood up as the winner as Calgary scored a 2-1 win over San Jose at SAP Center.

Dustin Wolf returned to his childhood stomping grounds with a 26-save performance, while Adam Klapka registered the other Flames marker as Calgary opened the month of November on a winning note.

Wild Bill:

William Stromgren had a moment he'll never forget 9:14 into the third period.

After Adam Klapka raced down the right wing with the puck, Stromgren bee-lined for the front of the San Jose net. Klapka was tripped up, fell, retained possession, then spun a puck goalward for the young Swede to grab, turn and chip over Yaroslav Askarov's left shoulder for his first career National Hockey League marker.

Stromgren, who had amassed 11 points in 11 games with the AHL's Wranglers to start the season, counted NHL goal - and point - No. 1 in his fourth career contest after being selected by the Flames in the second round of the 2021 Draft.

Every Wolf Has His Day:

Playing in the rink he grew up watching Sharks games in, Dustin Wolf was stellar right from the drop of the puck.

There was the stop off Will Smith's slot shot early in the first period. Then there was the save off Kiefer Sherwood four and a half minutes into period two, when the San Jose winger cut across the crease unabated.

The blocker save off Zack Ostapchuk on a 2-on-1. The late-period penalty kill in the middle stanza. All moments to add to the resume, and the netminder's confidence.

Wolf has turned in stellar efforts in consecutive starts since Devin Cooley went down with a lower-body injury last week, and deservedly, the Gilroy product was named the game's First Star.

Accurate Adam:

Klapka seized his moment and snapped home his third goal of the season to open the scoring at the 14:36 mark of period one.

Much like a shark lurking for prey, he lurked into the open space at the San Jose blue line, picking off a cross-ice pass from Sharks defenceman Nolan Allan (with the help of Jonathan Castagna's active stick), walked into the slot and fired the puck past a prone Yaroslav Askarov.

The 26-year-old Czech is already halfway to matching his single-season best of six goals, a mark he's reached in each of the last two seasons.

Ice Chips:

Jonathan Castagna had two assists, registering his first career NHL multi-point game ... Wolf improved to 11-2-0 against San Jose in his NHL career ... Klapka's two-point effort was his first of the 2026-27 campaign and fifth of his career.
