CALGARY -Flames head coach Glen Gulutzan has confirmed Kris Versteeg will return to the lineup this evening when Calgary hosts San Jose at 7:00 p.m. MT.
The winger has missed 49 games with a lower body injury that required surgery. He was activated from the injured reserve on Thursday following a few full skates with the team.
He is expected to start on the Flames' third line, skating alongside Mark Jankowski and Garnet Hathaway. With Matthew Tkachuk (upper body) out of the lineup, Sam Bennett will remain on the second line with Mikael Backlund and Michael Frolik.
Chris Stewart, Nicholas Shore and Matt Bartkowski are expected to be healthy scratches this evening.
