Heading up North!
The pre-season schedule rolls on with a stop in Edmonton as the Flames look to complete a home-and-home sweep over the Oilers after a 4-0 victory at the Scotiabank Saddledome Wednesday.
Brett Sutter, Michael Stone, MacKenzie Weegar and Jonathan Huberdeau, into an empty net, all lit the lamp for the Flames while Jacob Markstrom and Dustin Wolf combined for 21 saves to share the shutout.

Wednesday also saw Nazem Kadri make his Flames pre-season debut, centering a line between Mikael Backlund and Blake Coleman. Kadri picked up an assist on Weegar's tally in the third period and finished with four shots in 15:39 minutes of ice time.
The C of Red have been buzzing to see 91 in Flames colours ever since he signed as a free agent back in mid-August and got a sneak peak in what he'll bring on a nightly basis.
"It's always nice to get a win," Kadri said following the game. "I think we can definitely still be a little sharper but hey it's preseason. You got to shake some cobwebs out.
"You are kind of used to summer skates now you really dial in the detail and that's kind of expected. You are shaking some rust off. Nobody is expecting to be in mid-season form in September.
"We're going to continue to work at it and get better every day."
After tonight's tilt, the Flames have three games remaining on their pre-season sked with the next slated for Monday, Oct. 3 vs. the Kraken back at the 'Dome.

The Opposition

Expect to see more of the big names from the Oilers this time around compared to the squad they sent to Calgary.
The likes of Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, Zach Hyman, Darnell Nurse, Evander Kane, Cody Ceci, and noted free agent signing Jack Campbell have yet to appear in any pre-season action as of yet, but it's very likely that the majority if not all suit up for tonight's tilt.
Through the first three pre-season skates the Oilers hold a 1-2 record, with their lone victory in the opener this past Sunday, Sept. 25 in a 4-0 victory over the Jets at Rogers Place.

Mack Attack

After seeing longtime teammate Jonathan Huberdeau score his first goal as a member of the Flames Sunday vs. the Canucks, MacKenzie Weegar joined in, scoring his first (unoffical) goal wearing the Flaming C Wednesday night. From skate to stick, Weegar made it look effortless as he sniped a wrister past Stuart Skinner blocker side with the sweet sounds of Mark Morrison's 'Return of the Mack' blasting through the 'Dome speakers.

After the game head coach Darryl Sutter had high praise for the rearguard, with his desire to improve and learn each day.
"He's a really good student of the game," Sutter said. "Very coachable player. He's learning how we play and things like that.
"He's making strides, he's a good player."
