Johnson ready for start against Wild

SAINT PAUL, MN -- Chad Johnson is ready to go tonight in Minnesota.
The Flames goaltender will get his sixth start of the season and will be in search of his third victory. The 30-year-old last suited up in Anaheim against the Ducks and surrendered four goals on 21 shots. Prior to that, it was a stellar performance in San Jose that resulted in a 26 save victory.
"I think he's been real calm in the net," Flames' coach Glen Gulutzan said. "If you go all the way back to pre-season and in Winnipeg when he played, I thought he's been a real calm and steadying guy back there and I think it's a good game for him.

"We expect this to be a tight-checking game and he's deserved a chance to play."
Johnson's other starts came on Oct. 18, a win against the Buffalo Sabres, Oct. 22, a loss at home against the St. Louis Blues and an overtime setback to the Vancouver Canucks on Oct. 15, a game where he turned aside 30 shots and allowed just one goal.

The Calgary, AB native has a 2.93 goals against average and a .893 save percentage this season in five starts.
"I'm always ready when called upon," Johnson said. "In this business, things change. I'm always ready no matter what the situation is ... if it's in the middle of a game or whenever I'm always ready for a start. It's business as usual for myself.
"You just go out there and you battle. You use your abilities, your preparation, your hard work. I'm confident in my game and my ability. Whenever I'm in the net I just do my thing. I think it's really just a mindset for myself and that preparation part is huge for me. I always make sure I'm ready regardless of the situation.
"Sometimes change is good. It's a back-to-back tonight and tomorrow so I knew I was going to get one of the games at least. I don't really think too much into a lot of stuff I just keep it simple."
