Anaheim earned a standings point Saturday in a 5-4 shootout loss to the Minnesota Wild. The Ducks twice held a one-goal lead in the third period, but could not hold on for their first win of the road trip.
"Tonight, I thought we got a lead and we had a lot of really good chances to make that a two-goal game,"
Troy Terry told NHL.com's Jessi Pierce postgame
. "And I think that's what a lot of these good teams do. They're up on you, and when you start taking chances, you're going to give up some and they bury you and then they go up two or three. … We had a few chances where we could have put the game away."

"It's one of those games like, man, you really want to get both points so that the team can feel rewarded for a good road game," Ducks coach Dallas Eakins added. "Overall, we did a great job. Goaltending was excellent straight across the board, and those are important to try to get both points, so there's a reward. But coming into a building like this and grabbing a point is certainly a step in the right direction. And we still have a chance to get .500 on the road here."
The Ducks sit 6-16-3 on the season and are 0-1-2 heading to today's finale of the four-game trip. They'll face a Winnipeg team looking to rebound from a 4-1 loss to the Blue Jackets Friday night, in which former Jet Patrik Laine scored twice against his original NHL team.
The loss snapped a four-game winning streak for the Jets, including a 5-0 victory over the Avalanche.
"No team goes 82 wins and zero losses,"
forward Pierre-Luc Dubois said
. "We got chances. They had quick chances and took advantage of them. There were spurts in the game where we had momentum and were going around the zone. I thought the power play could have got us going, and it didn't. That doesn't help. But it's a long season. Like I said, you can't win all 82. And we've got to learn from this one."
"We're in a dogfight to make the playoffs," Winnipeg coach Rick Bowness said. "Every game is important, I don't care who we play … And as I told them after the game, it's on every individual to look at yourself first. Don't look at anything else. Look at yourself first and foremost."
