Postgame Quotes
Anaheim Ducks
Corey Perry
On the emotion
It benefits us. We were emotional in the game. That's definitely a positive for us.
On the physicality
There is some history there. They still have a lot of guys over there. We battled for a long time in the West. It just continued tonight.
On the importance of the game
It's going to come right down to every point. You have to go out and do your job and hopefully get help from other teams.
Nick Ritchie
On his goal
It was just a simple play. We got a forecheck and went side to side to get the defensemen turning their heads. Throw it to a guy going to the net.
On the emotion
It just started like that. Couple big hits early. The crowd was good. At this time of the year, with the position we're in, we're playing for keeps. Not that we weren't all season, but it's really a desperate time. Sometimes the emotions come out, and tonight they did.
Ryan Kesler
On the importance of finding emotion in games
It's huge when we can get emotionally involved early. These games mean a lot. There's no reason why we shouldn't be emotionally involved from the start. Tonight was pretty easy to get emotional.
Head Coach Randy Carlyle
On the emotional victory
These are tough games when you're playing a hockey club that's playing loose and free. They can skate. The Detroit hockey club has a group of hockey players that can really move out there. That's the model that's coming. You can tell by the change in the guard. They've filled their roster with young, fast hockey players.
On building upon wins
We have to start feeling good about ourselves and find ways to build on the wins we've had here as of late. As always, it's a challenge with the schedule and the dog days of the season. We know the pressure that's upon us. We don't want to focus necessarily on what everybody else is doing. Just focus on what we can control and make sure we're ready game in, game out to find ways to get the points. It doesn't have to be picture perfect.
Detroit Red Wings
Henrik Zetterberg
On tonight's loss
We had issues in our own end. We have to work really hard for our goals. When we are in our own end, we try and do the right things, but it gets hard for us sometimes.
On the West Coast road trip
I think for us now, the only thing we can do is focus on each game and try to win that night. It doesn't really matter who we are playing, but we don't come here that often anymore so it's fun for us to come here and play. We have a lot of fans here on the West Coast, so we look forward to this trip and try to make the best of it.
Anthony Mantha
On what Detroit hopes to accomplish in remaining games
We need to figure out something real quick. It is embarrassing to lose that much. We need to start playing a good game and having pride in playing. That is key.
On Detroit's power play
We just need to find the back of the net on those power plays. I mean, they cost us a lot of games this year. We have been good at times and then other times we can't seem to find the back of the net. We need to keep shooting, keep making the simple plays and it's going to come.
Head Coach Jeff Blashill
On tonight's game having playoff intensity
We have a crew that is going to fight, so obviously tonight that was literally. We have a competitive group led by Zetterberg and a whole group of guys, so it didn't surprise me that the game was like that. We are trying to win hockey games. They are trying to win hockey games. Sometimes it gets like that.
On what he is learning about his players
I don't think I'm learning anything. I've known this about this crew. They are a competitive group. We haven't won enough games, there's no question about it. We haven't had enough results, there's no question about it, but this group works. They compete. We have to be a little bit better in some of our detail. We gave away a couple of goals that we have to be better at. From the top of this group, it's a competitive group. We have to find a way to turn that into a win here, now. There's no doubt about the heart of this group.
