Ducks prospect Pavel Mintyukov made Ontario Hockey League history Tuesday, becoming the first player to win the league "Defenseman of the Month" award for three consecutive months.
Mintyukov, selected by Anaheim tenth overall in last summer's draft, posted 2-14=16 points with a +8 rating in 10 December games, including five straight multi-point efforts.
The 19-year-old ranks third among OHL skaters in points (14-37=51 in 34 games) and sits second in assists and plus/minus (+27). Mintyukov is also the only OHL defenseman to lead his team in scoring, and the only blueliner to rank in the top-15 among league scoring leaders.
Time and space in the slot for Michigan's own Dean Loukus 🚨
Mintyukov paces OHL defenseman in points, goals, assists and power-play points, while his Saginaw Spirit lead the league's Western Conference (23-9-2).
