Today's contest is the second and final matchup between New Jersey and Anaheim in the 2018-19 regular season series. The Devils fell to the Ducks in a shootout on December 9th in the two clubs' first contest. New Jersey is 4-0-0 at home against the Pacific Division this season, and 13-5-4 overall. Additionally, club is 5-1-1 in day games at Prudential Center, and 5-4-2 overall in the 2018-19 campaign.

Jesper Bratt (2A), Marcus Johansson (1G-1A), and Kyle Palmieri (2G) lead the Devils in scoring this season against Anaheim with two points. Daniel Sprong netted the game-decider in the first matchup in the shootout for the Ducks, while Ondrej Kase (1G-2A) led his club in scoring with three points in the first game.
Cory Schneider got the start on December 9th, allowing five goals on 37 shots faced. John Gibson came into relieve Ryan Miller in the second period after Miller had to leave the game with a lower-body injury. Gibson picked up the victory allowing one goal on eight shots faced, while Miller allowed four goals on 27 shots faced.
