MONTREAL - Day nine of the 2023 IIHF World Championship featured six Canadiens players and prospects.

Here's a recap of their respective performances:

USA 3 - 0 DENMARK

Frederik Dichow made his tournament-leading fifth start for Denmark.

After shutting out the Americans on 15 shots in the opening frame, Dichow was forced out of the game following a collision that sent the 22-year-old prospect into the back of his net.

Lane Hutson and Sean Farrell were held off the scoresheet. The former recorded one shot on goal in 11:38 of ice time, while the latter played 12:45.

CANADA 2 - 3 SWITZERLAND

Canada and Switzerland battled for first place in Group B.

The Swiss staved off the Canadians' comeback effort in the third period to keep their perfect record alive nearing the end of the group stage.

With the loss and Czechia's win earlier in the day, Canada fell to third place in their group.

Sam Montembeault made his third start of the tournament, stopping 23 of the 26 shots he faced.

Justin Barron skated 10:08 for Team Canada.

AUSTRIA 1 - 3 FINLAND

The Finns outshot the Austrians 39-18, extending their win streak to three and moving into second place in Group A ahead of the Sweden-France game at 1:20 p.m. ET on Saturday.

Finnish fans saw Joel Armia on the ice for 14:38 in Saturday's victory.

Coming up

As far as Habs players and prospects go, only the United States will be in action on Sunday.
