TOR@MTL - Previewen

TORONTO - It can finally be said for real: hockey is back.

The Canadiens will face their first opponent in over four months on Tuesday when they "host" the Maple Leafs in an exhibition game at Scotiabank Arena. The tilt will serve as a tune-up for the Qualifying Round against Pittsburgh, beginning on Saturday.

Here's what you need to know.

In the room

The Canadiens are rested and healthy. The team traveled to Toronto with 16 forwards, 10 defensemen and four goaltenders, but it remains to be seen who will dress on Tuesday.

Watch-list:

Tomas Tatar: Coming off a 22-goal, 61-point shortened regular season, the Slovakian forward will be looking to keep his career year going.

Jesperi Kotkaniemi: The Habs' third-overall pick from the 2018 Draft is back with the big club following a 12-game stint in Laval prior to the pause.

In quotes

"I think execution and intensity are probably the two biggest things we're looking for in our game right now, after three months off. You normally get six to eight exhibition games and a long regular season to get ready for playoffs - so how do you get ready now? Execution will be a big part of that."

At the other end

Like the Habs, the Leafs are also healthy and heading into game day with a full roster. The Canadiens' long-time rivals notably finished the regular season with the League's third-most potent offense.

Watch-list:

Auston Matthews: The 22-year-old center led Toronto with 47 goals and 80 points in 70 games this year.

Nick Robertson: Thanks in large part to an 86-point season in the OHL, the Leafs' second-round pick from 2019 forced management's hand to include him on the club's Phase 4 roster, and he looks to have earned a spot for the Qualifying Round.
