MONTREAL -- With the Canadiens' 2019-20 campaign in the rearview mirror, it's time to look back at how it all went down for the Habs this season. Next up: Max Domi.

The skinny
Looking to follow up on his outstanding first season as a Hab - in which he set career highs for goals (28), assists (44), and points (72) - Domi's second season in Montreal was one filled with ups and downs. The Winnipeg-born forward flew out of the gate in 2019-20, picking up 10 points in his first 10 games and was held off the scoresheet in just two of those contests.

His production for the next 20-odd games was more intermittent, but Domi was on fire in December, putting up a career-best goal streak and a nine-game point streak in the final month of the calendar year. Although his numbers tapered off after mid-January, Domi would still finish third on the Canadiens with 44 points (17G, 27A) in 71 games, and he was the team's second-busiest faceoff man after Phillip Danault with 788 draws. He led Montreal with 20 primary assists, and also finished second on the Habs with 42 takeaways in 2019-20.

Domi struggled to find his footing in the postseason, although he did spring to life in Game 2 against the Flyers, picking up three helpers after associate coach Kirk Muller moved him to the wing on a line with Jesperi Kotkaniemi and Jonathan Drouin.
Goal of the year
They said it
"Max is a competitive guy. You can see when he gets going. When he's feeling good about himself and he's contributing, he is such an important piece to our team. The first year probably went a little bit better than last year in terms of points, but I don't think you can look at that. You can just look at the impact he has and when he's on, he's somebody that we definitely rely on and can carry our team." -Brendan Gallagher, in a conference call with the media in mid-September
