Nikita Scherbak out six weeks following right knee surgery

The 21-year-old forward went under the knife on Monday in Montreal

MONTREAL - The Canadiens announced that forward Nikita Scherbak underwent right knee surgery on Monday in Montreal.

The 21-year-old Russian forward was injured on October 26 against the Los Angeles Kings. His recovery period is expected to be six weeks.

Scherbak was recalled from the AHL's Laval Rocket on October 22. 

He began the season in fine form with nine points (1g - 8a) in six games with Laval.

Scherbak played two games with the Canadiens before suffering the injury, and was held without a point.
