RALEIGH – The Canadiens held their first practice of the new year on Friday –– though in limited capacity.

Following Montreal’s dramatic 7-5 win over the Carolina Hurricanes on Thursday, the team was given the option to skate Friday in Raleigh.

In total, 14 players took to the ice, including Oliver Kapanen who, earlier Friday morning, was named to Finland’s roster for the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026.

The Canadiens will depart Raleigh immediately following practice and continue their holiday road trip in St. Louis, where they face the Blues on Saturday afternoon.
