Roy scores, Canada advances to gold medal game

MONTREAL -- Joshua Roy capped the scoring in Canada's 5-2 semi-final triumph over Czechia at the 2022 IIHF World Junior Championship on Friday at Rogers Place.

It was Roy's second goal of the tournament.

The 19-year-old winger was the most utilized player for head coach Dave Cameron's contingent. He logged a team-high 44 shifts and 23:07 of ice time.
Riley Kidney was back in the lineup for Canada. He played just 63 seconds.
For his part, captain Jan Mysak scored his team-leading fifth goal of the tournament for Czechia.

With the victory, Canada advanced to Saturday night's gold medal game against Finland.

The Finns earned their spot in the championship tilt with a 1-0 semi-final shutout of Sweden.
Oliver Kapanen was held pointless, while Petteri Nurmi didn't dress.
Mysak and Czechia will battle the Swedes in the bronze medal game on Saturday afternoon.
