MONTREAL - The Canadiens return home after a two-game weekend road trip to host the Pittsburgh Penguins at the Bell Centre on Monday.

The Habs are looking for a reversal of fortunes after dropping both games of their back-to-back on Friday and Saturday nights. After falling 3-0 to the Red Wings in their home opener on Friday, Montreal lost 3-1 to the Washington Capitals in the U.S. capital on Saturday.
In D.C., captain Nick Suzuki scored the lone Montreal goal of the contest early on in the second period, but Washington scored three unanswered goals to take the game. Sam Montembeault made 26 saves in his 2022-23 season debut, while Arber Xhekaj picked up his first career NHL point on the Suzuki goal. Jonathan Drouin also played his first game of the campaign.

At morning skate, head coach Martin St-Louis will ice the same lineup from Saturday, although he
shuffled his forward lines
. As well, Jake Allen will miss the game due to a parental leave. Montreal sent down defenseman Corey Schueneman to Laval and recalled Cayden Primeau from the Rocket.
As for the Penguins, they have yet to lose a game this season. In their most recent outing, also on Saturday, they beat the Tampa Bay Lightning 6-2 at home. Sidney Crosby, Danton Heinen, Jake Guentzel, Jeff Carter, Bryan Rust, and Rickard Rackell scored for Pittsburgh, while Tristan Jarry made 34 saves in a winning effort.
Monday's game will be a special homecoming for two longtime former Habs. Jeff Petry and Ryan Poehling will play their first game at the Bell Centre in black and gold after spending 508 and 85 games, respectively, with Montreal.
This is the first of three meetings between the two teams. They meet again on November 12 at the Bell Centre before closing out the season series on March 14 in Pennsylvania. The Canadiens went 1-2-0 against the Penguins in 2021-22.
