MONTREAL - Team Red skated to a 7-2 win over Team White in the Red vs. White Scrimmage presented by IGA on Sunday afternoon.

The annual event, which marks the return of hockey, was played in front of a sold-out crowd at the Bell Centre. Team Red's Anthony Richard notched three points (2G, 1A) and Owen Beck earned two assists.
Ticket sales from the intraquad scrimmage raised $184,540. Fifty-percent of the proceeds will benefit the Montreal Canadiens Children's Foundation, while the other half will go to the Tablée des Chefs.

Richard opened scoring early for Team Red. He was assisted by Jesse Ylönen and Beck.

With less than 5 minutes left in the first period, Brendan Gallagher tied the game for Team White with assists from Christian Dvorak and Gianni Fairbrother.

Team White couldn't rejoice for long as Richard netted his second of the game.

Team Red's Kevin Poulin took over from Cayden Primeau, while Riley Mercer stepped in for Sam Montembeault in Team White.
Team Red cushioned their lead with a goal from Alex Green at the start of the middle frame. Filip Mesar got the primary assist and Richard added to his points tally with a secondary helper.

Forward Lucas Condotta scored a beauty on a breakaway to cut into Team Red's lead. Danick Martel and Mercer earned assists on the play.

Joel Armia restored Team Red's two-goal lead near the halfway point of the game.

Soon after, Jared Davidson showed his skill set and made it 5-2 for Team Red. Arber Xhekaj and Xavier Simoneau got assists on the play.

Team Red continued to dominate as Simoneau added a sixth goal with assists from Armia and Green.

Team White was given a chance to redeem itself with five minutes of 3-on-3 hockey after two periods of play.
However, Xhekaj scored on a 2-on-1 off a slick pass from Joshua Roy to make it 7-2 for Team Red.

The Canadiens return to action for their first preseason game tomorrow against the New Jersey Devils at 7:00 p.m. at the Bell Centre.
