BUFFALO -- The Canadiens were edged 4-3 in overtime by the Devils on Friday night at the 2022 Prospects Challenge at LECOM Harborcenter.

Shortly before the contest, head coach Jean-François Houle revealed his main leadership group for the second game of the tournament.
It consisted of Gianni Fairbrother, Lucas Condotta and Jordan Harris.

Reilly Walsh opened the scoring for the Devils, but the Canadiens battled back.
William Trudeau scored the equalizer, capping a perfect give-and-go effort with Pierrick Dubé.

Late in the stanza, Filip Mesar scored on the power play to give Montreal a 2-1 lead.
It was Mesar's second goal of the tournament.

That's the way things stood after 20 minutes.
Xavier Parent registered the lone tally in the second period for New Jersey.
It was 2-2 heading after 40 minutes.
The Canadiens pulled ahead courtesy of Owen Beck's snipe in the third period.
His second goal of the tournament was the result of a solid individual effort.

And, his entire family was in the house to witness the marker.

New Jersey's Alexander Holtz scored the equalizer with just under two minutes remaining in regulation.
That forced overtime.
Holtz added the game-winner in the extra frame on the power play.
The Canadiens will practice on Saturday at LECOM Harborcenter, before playing their final game of the round-robin event against the Ottawa Senators on Sunday at 12:00 p.m. ET.
