MONTREAL - Tying Hall-of-Famer Jacques Plante atop the Canadiens' all-time games played list among goaltenders certainly wasn't lost on Carey Price on Sunday night.

"It's a legendary name," said Price, following his 556th career regular-season appearance in a Habs uniform. "Being able to be spoken of in the same breath as him is quite humbling."

Unfortunately, Price couldn't celebrate his latest milestone with a win, as the Canadiens dropped a 2-1 decision to the New Jersey Devils at the Bell Centre.
It was Taylor Hall who settled the score with a short-handed goal with just 4:07 remaining in regulation time to seal the victory for John Hynes' contignent.
While coming out on the wrong side of the scoresheet like that was tough for Price to swallow, the six-time All-Star still took plenty of pride in reaching a mark that has stood since Plante's departure in 1963.
"I'm definitely proud of it. Getting drafted, you don't know how your career is going to unfold," said Price, who was selected fifth overall back in 2005. "I'm disappointed right now because of the loss, but definitely proud of being able to wear the CH for that long."
The Bell Centre faithful showed their appreciation for Price's achievement during a first-period tribute on the jumbotron.
The 11-year NHL veteran was given a tremendous round of applause, and he waved back several times to acknowledge the crowd before play resumed.
"It's definitely a fun moment, being able to look at the scoreboard and seeing all the names written there alongside mine," said Price, who made 30 saves on Sunday night. "It's pretty cool."

Likewise, head coach Claude Julien was pleased to see his starter recognized for etching his name alongside the six-time Stanley Cup Champion and seven-time Vezina Trophy winner.
"It was a nice moment and it was quite a feat as well. He's been here a long time. He's played a lot of games," said Julien. "I think when that came up on the big screen, we were all proud of what he's accomplished. Any time players accomplish these kinds of milestones, it's pretty neat to see and pretty impressive on their parts."
