EDMONTON - The Canadiens swept their two-game set against the Oilers with a 3-1 victory on Monday night at Rogers Place.

Following the contest, forward Alexander Romanov, defenseman Shea Weber and goaltender Jake Allen met the media.
They were followed by head coach Claude Julien.
Here are a few highlights from their Zoom-based Q&A with reporters:
Romanov was asked why the Canadiens enjoyed success against an Oilers lineup with such serious firepower up front:
I think because we're playing hard. We had many hits in the game. We're playing like a team, we're playing like a family.

Romanov on scoring his first NHL goal

The 21-year-old defenseman also reflected on scoring his first NHL goal, which obviously was a moment he'll never forget:
Firstly, I didn't understand that I scored. Second, I was so excited. I had no words when I screamed. It's amazing.

Weber is one of Romanov's many, many fans because of the incredible enthusiasm he brings to the group:
He's non-stop. It's great. He's got a lot of energy in the room, in the gym, in practice. You can see he gets out there 5-10 minutes early and he's flying around right away. He's got lots of good energy and definitely helps us.

Weber also spoke highly of Allen's performance in between the pipes, stopping 25 shots in a successful Habs debut:
He was solid. I've been impressed with him ever since I've seen him at camp. You play against him a little bit, you get to know him a little bit that way, but just having him here, in the room and on the ice, he's been great. So far, so good. He was solid. He made the saves he needed to make. Unfortunately, we gave up one late there for him, but he definitely gave us a good chance tonight.

The penalty kill earned huge praise from the Canadiens' captain, too, and with good reason after going a perfect 7-for-7 in the game:
We had some good sticks tonight. They tried to hit a lot of seams and we were able to get sticks in lanes and Jake was able to make the first save on them all. We were also able to clear rebounds and try and clear the front of the net after that.

Allen, meanwhile, was elated to get the job done for his new teammates:
It's a little bit more special, no question, to be able to put this sweater on for the third time - but for my first real game. I was really looking forward to playing my first game with the Canadiens logo on my chest. Being able to get a win was huge. The guys played great these two games and now we'll carry it over to Vancouver.

The 30-year-old Fredericton, NB native insists the win was good for his confidence and he's eager to play his role alongside Carey Price:
The goal for me coming in this season was to make Carey be the best goalie he can be. When he's on his game, he's the best in the world. My job is to come in here and collect points as well. Points are crucial. My mindset coming into this year is no exhibition games is no excuse, it was just to build my game, keep building and find pieces of my game that are going to continue to get better. I thought it was a good start, but still a long way to go.

Jake Allen on his first win as a Hab

Julien was definitely impressed with Allen's effort:
He was very calm tonight. He was focused. Jake is an experienced goaltender. It wasn't his first NHL game. It probably was special for him to play his first game for the Canadiens. I thought he was excellent. We were really good on the penalty kill, but so was our goaltender.

Julien on the Habs' effective penalty kill

Julien also commented on using seven different forwards in short-handed situations:
That's what we liked when we acquired certain guys. I'm a lot more comfortable with the number of players I can use on the penalty kill. That's why we're fresh and more aggressive. It makes a big difference.
