MONTREAL – Despite their best efforts near the end of the game, the Canadiens couldn't force overtime and dropped a 4-3 decision against the New York Rangers at the Bell Centre on Saturday.

Quick facts

  • Cole Caufield and Nick Suzuki extended their point streaks to five games.
  • Noah Dobson scored his first goal in a Habs jersey.

Roster

Kaiden Guhle, Kirby Dach and Patrik Laine did not play in tonight’s game. All three are out with lower-body injuries, but the defenseman will miss four to six weeks of action, while the two forwards are listed as day-to-day.

As a result, Owen Beck, who was recalled this morning from the AHL’s Laval Rocket, and Joe Veleno made their regular season debuts on a line with Zachary Bolduc.

Samuel Montembeault got the nod between the pipes and turned aside 18 shots. For more stats, check out the Gamecenter summary here.
