MONTREAL - On Wednesday, October 23, 2019, the Bell Centre will host the 38th annual Canadiens-evenko Blood Drive, presented in collaboration with RDS and in support of Héma-Québec. Donors are expected from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. to help Héma-Québec collect much-needed units of blood. Throughout the day, Montreal Canadiens players, members of the organization, Canadiens Alumni, as well as evenko and RDS celebrities will be on hand to meet the donors and thank them for their generosity. Sun Life will also be on-site to provide awareness and prevention information on diabetes.

The Canadiens' Blood Drive was initiated by Jean Béliveau and Claude Mouton in 1981. Since 1998, the Montreal Canadiens have been organizing their blood drive in collaboration with Héma-Québec, an organization whose vision is to become a strategic partner for the Quebec health system. According to Héma-Québec, the Canadiens' Blood Drive is of the utmost importance since over three quarters of a day's blood supply in Quebec is collected that day at the Bell Centre. Over the past 35 years, the Montreal Canadiens' Blood Drive has helped save over 100,000 lives.
ABOUT HÉMA-QUÉBEC
Héma-Québec was created in 1998 to efficiently meet the needs of the Québec population for quality blood and other biological products of human origin, as well as provide and develop expertise along with specialized and innovative services and products in the fields of transfusion medicine and human tissue transplantation.
The organization needs a minimum of 1,000 blood donations per day to keep the reserve at an optimal level. This is achieved through the unwavering commitment of nearly 155,000 blood donors, thousands of volunteers and over 1,300 employees. The contributions of these generous individuals transform the lives of patients who receive the 310,000 blood products delivered annually to hospitals in Quebec.
