BostonBruins.com - Bruce Cassidy became just the fourth coach in Bruins history to capture the Jack Adams Award with his victory on Wednesday night. He joins some elite company with previous Bruins coach of the year winners Don Cherry (1975-76), Pat Burns (1997-98), and Claude Julien (2008-09). Here's a look at Cassidy's time with the Black & Gold.

Sept. 12, 2008 | Providence

After two seasons as head coach of the Ontario Hockey League's Kingston Frontenacs, Cassidy is hired as an assistant for the Providence Bruins.

June 25, 2011 | Providence

Cassidy serves three years in that role before taking over as head coach of the P-Bruins ahead of the 2011-12 campaign. Providence makes the playoffs in four of his five seasons, with the likes of Noel Acciari, Brandon Carlo, Danton Heinen, Anton Khudobin, Torey Krug, Kevan Miller, and David Pastrnak among his highest profile pupils.

May 24, 2016 | Boston

After over a decade away from the NHL, Cassidy returns as an assistant to Julien in Boston. The Ottawa native is in charge of the Bruins' defense corps.

Feb. 7, 2017 | Boston

Cassidy's tenure as an assistant is short-lived as he takes over for Julien on an interim basis with roughly two months to go in the regular season. It is Cassidy's second chance at an NHL head coaching gig, some 13 years removed from his season-plus stint with the Washington Capitals (107 games from 2002-03).

Cassidy gets off to a nice start as he leads the Bruins to a 6-3 victory over the San Jose Sharks in his debut.

April 6, 2017 | Boston

Cassidy leads the Bruins to an 18-8-1 record the rest of the way, helping guide the Bruins back to the postseason after a two-year absence. Boston loses to the Ottawa Senators in six games during the first round.

April 26, 2017 | Boston

Cassidy is rewarded for his success and is officially named the 28th head coach in Bruins history.

April 7, 2018 | Boston

In their penultimate game of the regular season, the Bruins win their 50th game and finish Cassidy's first full campaign at 50-20-12.

In a first of its kind interview during the WEEI/NESN Jimmy Fund Radio-Telethon, the head coaches from Boston's four major professional sports teams - Cassidy, the Red Sox' Alex Cora, the Celtics' Brad Stevens, and the Patriots' Bill Belichick (by phone) - come together.

Cassidy also met with Belichick during the 2019 Stanley Cup Final.

Cassidy takes home his first Jack Adams Award over finalists John Tortorella (Columbus) and Alain Vigneault (Philadelphia).
In 261 games with Boston, Cassidy has posted a 161-66-34 record. His 261 games rank eighth in Bruins history, while the 161 wins are sixth.
And in his three full seasons as head coach (2017-20), the Bruins rank in the top 10 of nearly every major statistical category: 143 wins (2nd), 319 points (2nd), 3.21 goals per game (6th), 2.52 goals allowed per game (1st), 24.9 power play percentage (2nd), 82.6 penalty kill percentage (t-3rd).
