Five Different Scorers Lift Bruins to Victory Over Wild

ST. PAUL, Minn. - In the third game of a five-game road trip, the Bruins lived up to the challenge that is the Minnesoda Wild, who were carrying a 14-game point streak into Saturday afternoon's matinée matchup at Xcel Energy Center and have been one of the league's top teams for well over a month. Boston, however, was undeterred, as five different goal scorers found the back of the net for the Bruins in a 5-2 victory.
"I thought we went after them as good as we've gone for a 60-minute game," said coach Jim Montgomery, whose team improved to 52-11-5, securing Boston's highest win total since 54 in 2013-14.

Five Goal Breakdown

Montgomery has said there is always a different hero of the night, highlighting the depth and talent of this Bruins squad, which was put on full display Saturday afternoon as five different Bruins got the puck in the net. As for one particular line that was extra impressive, Montgomery called out the top trio.
"I thought Bergeron's line set the tone for us," said Montgomery. "A couple of great forechecking goals. I thought everybody was involved, but I liked our game management, that unselfishness that we've seen throughout the year was very evident tonight."
The most unselfish of all was Marchand, who recorded three assists on DeBrusk's goal, David Pastrnak's goal and Bergeron's. DeBrusk struck first, firing a laser from the top of the circle for his 21st goal of the season. Bergeron's came halfway through the third period for his 25th of the season.
The third line was also very impressive vs. the Wild. Charlie Coyle, Tyler Bertuzzi, and Trent Frederic made a noticeable impact everytime they were on the ice. "Usually when we play tough teams and teams who've been doing well, we get to our game right away because we know we have to," said Coyle. "So, usually our start is on. Whether we score the first goal or not, we just stay at it. We do the right things. We play simple and you see when we do that, we kind of take over."
Frederic was the one to score on the line, hammering home an empty netter to make it three straight game that he has found the back of the net.
Pastrnak, meanwhile, took advantage of the power play in the second period and scored his 47th goal of the season. This puts Pastrnak one shy of his single-season career high (48 in 2019-20; 70 GP). David Krejci also put one in not long after in the second, giving him his 14th of the season.

Video Coach Victory

Video coaches Sean Andrake and Mat Myers are consistently working behind the scenes with video boards of all angles of the game, giving them the ability to make important calls that can change the outcome. Two of the Wild's goals were taken back following Myers and Andrake's keen eye for offsides that led to successful challenges. "Credit to Sean and Maty for catching those," said Ullmark. "It was huge."
As for Andrake, having the chance to impact the game in a positive way is always the goal in mind."It was awesome," said Andrake. "For us, it's our way of being able to score a goal per se, except we get to pull it off the board so it's pretty awesome."
The guys in the room recognized them in a big way, awarding them the game puck in the locker room following the score victory. "We have a really good group here and we love them and we work hard for them every single day," said Myers. "It was really touching for them to recognize us in the moment and it's something we will remember forever."
