THIS WEEK'S NEWS, NOTES AND NUMBERS…
STAT OF THE WEEK: With four goals against the Carolina Hurricanes on January 6, Patrice Bergeron tied the Bruins record for the most goals scored by one player in a single game, originally set by Dave Andreychuk on October 28, 1999. Bergeron added an assist to tie his career-high of five points and became just the seventh Bruins player all-time to reach the 700-point milestone in the process. He was named the NHL first star of the week for the week ending January 8 after finishing the week with five goals and two assists for seven points in three games, as the Bruins collected five of a possible six points to improve to 23-10-7 and hold second place in the Atlantic Division.
QUOTE OF THE WEEK:"It's pretty impressive. Seeing him have a game like this is definitely up there…but I think the Olympics, winning the Cup and him just being Patrice Bergeron might be above that." -Brad Marchand on Patrice Bergeron's four-goal, five-point game.
TWEET OF THE WEEK (WEEK 18):@JoeyMacHockey (Joe McDonald, Boston Sports Journal): "Bergeron's point total in this game is higher than the temperature outside TD Garden." -On Bergeron's five-point game
HONORABLE MENTIONS:@GlobeFluto (Fluto Shinzawa, Boston Globe): "It is a wonder the Bruins have enough pucks for warmups. David Pastrnak gives them all away."
@BJaffe (Billy Jaffe, NESN): "4th line name is easy…Mid Life Crisis. They're all in their 50s"
