St. Louis Blues captain Ryan O'Reilly is getting some well-deserved recognition heading into the 2021-22 season.
NHL Network has named O'Reilly as the 26th best player in the NHL in their annual Top 50 list. Moving up five spots from last year's ranking, O'Reilly is poised to build on an already elite resume.

Here's what NHL Network's Stu Grimson had to say about O'Reilly:
"It starts with the determination, and he is infuriating in terms of the opposition forwards he plays against," Grimson said. "He's great with that stick. ... Really strong on the puck, really doggedly determined just in terms of winning those puck battles. And there is the offensive upside that comes along with all that."

Heading into his 12th season, the 30-year-old forward has proven to be a staple among the League's best forwards. Since coming to St. Louis in 2018, O'Reilly has set a tone of versatile, two-way minded play, and has collected the accolades to show it. He won the Frank J. Selke Trophy as the League's top defensive forward for the 2018-19 season, and earned the Conn Smythe Trophy as the playoff MVP when the Blues took home their first Stanley Cup in 2019.
Last season, his first as captain, O'Reilly scored a team-leading 24 goals and recorded 54 total points, while also leading the team in plus/minus (+26). Continuing his elite defensive presence, he finished fifth for the Selke Trophy, of which he has been in the Top 5 for three consecutive seasons.
NHL Network will continue to reveal their Top 50 List each Sunday.
