OILERSEdmonton got goals from Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Alex Chaisson, and Connor McDavid extended his point streak to nine games with an assist, but the Oilers fell 4-2 to the Vancouver Canucks on Sunday.
"I thought over the last half of the game, (the Canucks) ability to defend was much greater than ours was to score," Oilers Head Coach Ken Hitchcock told the team website. "They made it really hard on us."
Sunday's loss was the first in regulation for the Oilers in seven games.
Since Hitchcock took over behind the bench, Edmonton is 9-3-2.
HEAD-TO-HEAD Tuesday's game will be the second of three matchups between the Blues and Oilers this season. Edmonton won the first meeting in come-from-behind fashion, scoring a late goal to force overtime and eventually earning the victory in a shootout on Dec. 5 in St. Louis.
Overall, the Blues have points in three of the last four meetings with the Oilers (2-1-1) and are 10-4-2 in the last 16 meetings.
In the last 10 trips to Edmonton, the Blues are 7-3-0.
