As the St. Louis Blues have set off on their 2022 Stanley Cup Playoffs journey, many different members of the community have locked in to support their local hockey team.
In St. Charles, Five Acres Animal Shelter has been following the games closely, celebrating each game in a unique way: naming an adoptable pet after the Blues player that scores first in each Playoff game.

David Perron, Ryan O'Reilly and Jordan Kyrou (twice) have opened the scoring in the four games thus far. Perron's hat trick in Game 1 began the Five Acres initiative with an adorable cat, dubbed David Purr-on for his namesake's stellar performance. Posing with a hat to mark the achievement, David Purr-on was an immediate hit on social media.

David Purr-on is currently being treated by the veterinarian staff for a lower-body injury, and is not yet on the adoptable "roster". His renaming was followed up with a pair of currently adoptable dogs, Kyrou (first goal scorer in Games 2 and 4) and O'Reilly (Game 3).

Five Acres is a no-kill animal shelter that works to find forever homes for animals in the community. In August 2020, they partnered with St. Charles City Animal Shelter to expand their efforts.
