The Columbus Blue Jackets have assigned defenseman Gavin Bayreuther to the Cleveland Monsters, the team's American Hockey League affiliate, club General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced today.
Bayreuther, 26, has posted a goal and seven penalty minutes with 16 shots in nine contests with the Blue Jackets this season. Signed by Columbus as a free agent last October, he made his team debut on April 19 at Florida and tallied his first goal with the club on Friday against Detroit. He has added 1-9-10 and 11 penalty minutes in 10 outings with Cleveland this season.
The Canaan, New Hampshire native has tallied 3-3-6 with 17 penalty minutes, a cumulative +1 plus/minus rating and 41 shots in 28 career NHL games with the Blue Jackets and Dallas Stars from 2018-21. In 208 career AHL games, he has 23-78-101 and 91 penalty minutes with the Monsters and Texas Stars. The 6-1, 195-pound blueliner collected 35-76-111, 92 penalty minutes and a cumulative +24 plus/minus rating in 142 career games at St. Lawrence University (ECAC) from 2013-17.
