Each season, the Blue Jackets players spend a day off the ice helping serve the community at various non-profits like Mid-Ohio Foodbank, the Furniture Bank of Central Ohio and LifeCare Alliance.
The Blue Jackets' visit to Nationwide Children's Hospital has become a long-standing tradition for the organization. On this day, all CBJ players visit children receiving various treatments at NCH. During this visit, the players provide each child with a Courage Kit with CBJ toys.
The CBJ Foundation's Community MVP Award recognizes the player who best exemplifies service, dedication and leadership.
In conjunction with the National Hockey League's Hockey Fights Cancer initiatives, the Blue Jackets holds a variety of special activities throughout the selected month including hospital visits, hosting numerous cancer patients to home games and making donations to the cause.
The Blue Jackets salute those who served or are currently serving the nation's armed forces during the club's annual Military Appreciation Night.

Each year, the Columbus Blue Jackets team up with American Red Cross during September to make a goal to help save lives at the annual blood drive at Nationwide Arena.
Through a joint partnership, the Blue Jackets support the Big 10TV Toy Drive to collect toys at an in-game toy drive for the Salvation Army's Christmas Cheer program, which makes holiday gifts possible for families in need.
In an effort to eliminate barriers to playing hockey, fans are encouraged to donate new or gently used equipment throughout the year to be sold at the Blue Jackets Foundation annual Equipment Sale at an OhioHealth Chiller Ice Rink. Pre-owned equipment is sold at affordable prices with proceeds reinvested in the local youth hockey community.

Kids fighting pediatric cancer are our heroes, and we show our support by offering unique experiences and special recognitions. During an event like Hockey Fights Cancer Night, many patients and their families were treated to a game. Some call it therapy through distraction, but most of the kids just call it fun.

On one special game, the Blue Jackets also wear specially designed lavender jerseys during pregame warm-ups to honor those who've battled and are currently battling cancer.

As a way to show support and gratitude for all active and retired service members, the Blue Jackets wear specially designed camouflage-style jerseys during pregame warm-ups and provide over 1,000 tickets for service members to enjoy the game. In addition to this special evening, a member of our military is recognized at every home game.

The NHL is committed to promoting sustainable business practices with Clubs, players, fans, employees and partners, so all can be more responsible stewards of the planet by reducing the use of resources, and reusing and recycling equipment and materials.
