Strong play from Team USA Captain Patrick Kane lifted the United States past the Czech Republic in the quarterfinal of the IIHF World Championship.
Just over 10 minutes into the game Kane found the back of the net to give his team a 1-0 advantage.
Cam Atikinson increased the lead to two goals late in the first period, but the Czech team answered with two goals of their own to tie the game headed into the third.
After penalties on both teams to start the final frame, Derek Ryan found Kane, who floated past the defense, and fired the game-winning goal to secure a 3-2 victory.
