Team USA continued their IIHF World Championship dominance with a 13-1 win over Korea to improve to 5-0 in tournament play.
Korea struck first with a goal in the opening period, but Anders Lee quickly tied the game up before Patrick Kane gave the United States the lead with a power-play goal off an assist from Johnny Gaudreau. Not even a minute later Kane found Charlie McAvoy to give USA a two-goal advantage.
Kane kept up his strong play in the next frame with his second tally on the man advantage and added a helper on a Cam Atkinson goal to put the United States up 8-1.
The final period followed the same narrative, with Kane adding another assist to Atkinson, and Alex DeBrincat picking up two helpers of his own to increase the margin of victory to 12.
In the end, Kane finished with five points (2G, 3A), DeBrincat was +2 with two points and Connor Murphy ended the win at +4 with four shots on goal.
Jordan Oesterle did not play.
Team USA will return to action on Sunday to take on Norway at 9:15 CT.
