The 2021 IIHF World Championship rolled on in day six as a trio of Blackhawks pulled their first win of the tournament out of a busy Wednesday in Riga, Latvia.

CANADA EARNS FIRST WIN

Brandon Hagel, Nicolas Beaudin and Brandon Pirri will sleep a little easier on Wednesday night after Canada got into the win column for the first time in the tournament with a 4-2 win over Norway.
Hagel had four shots in 12:14 of ice time, Beaudin skated 11:03 in the game and Pirri put forth two shots while playing 6:13.
The Canadians will have a chance to build on their momentum in their next game against Kazakhstan on Friday.

GERMANY FALLS IN SECOND STRAIGHT

The Germans dropped a 3-2 game to Kazakhstan on Wednesday -- a second straight loss on the tournament after a high-scoring 2-0-0 start. Blackhawks prospect Lukas Reichel took a hit up high in the first period and played sparringly afterwards, totaling 5:36 of ice time in the game.
Germany has the next two days off before facing Finland on Saturday in a pivotal meeting atop Group B.

RUSSIA TOPS DENMARK

Russia snapped a two-game skid on Wednesday with a 3-0 win over Denmark to pull into a tie on points for the top spot in Group A.
Nikita Zadorov had two shots and was a +1 rating in 21:26 of ice time, while Maxim Shalunov skated 11:01 of the game with one shot on goal.
The Blackhawks duo will face Philipp Kurashev and Team Switzerland on Friday, likely with second place in Group A on the line.

KUBALIK, KURASHEV IN ACTION ON DAY 7

Two Blackhawks are in action on Thursday as Kurashev and Switzerland take on first-place Slovakia and Dominik Kubalik's Czech Republic team faces Sweden.
