Bowen Byram hit check Minnesota Wild 2021 January 31

The Colorado Avalanche picked up a point in overtime but fell 4-3 to the Minnesota Wild in the second half of a back-to-back at Xcel Energy Center on Sunday night.
Jonas Brodin scored 18 seconds into overtime to get the win for the Wild. Victor Rask scored twice and Jordan Greenway had a goal and an assist for Minnesota.
Joonas Donskoi, Cale Makar and Brandon Saad each scored for Colorado. Nazem Kadri recorded his 400th NHL point in the contest with an assist on Brandon Saad's tally. Nathan MacKinnon had two helpers in the outing but left the game before the third period with a lower-body injury.

Colorado and Minnesota meet again on Tuesday as the four-game series shifts to Denver.

ROSTER REPORT

The Avalanche used 17 skaters--11 forwards and six defensemen--instead of the traditional 18 due to salary cap restraints. Defenseman Jacob MacDonald played his first game as a member of the Avalanche and his third in the NHL. He skated in two contests with the Florida Panthers in 2018-19.

INJURY UPDATE

Nathan MacKinnon did not skate in the third period due to a lower-body injury. Erik Johnson missed the contest after suffering an upper-body injury in Saturday night's contest in Minnesota. They join forwards Pierre-Edouard Bellemare (lower body) and Matt Calvert (upper body), defenseman Devon Toews (lower body) and goaltender Pavel Francouz (lower body) on the Avalanche's injured list.

The Avalanche and Wild will head to Denver to conclude their four-game series at Ball Arena on Tuesday and Thursday.
