LAST TIME OUT
After opening the preseason with four victories, the Golden Knights dropped a 5-3 decision to the Colorado Avalanche Monday night. Brad Hunt (1G, 1A) and Alex Tuch (2A) each posted two points in the loss while Max Pacioretty scored his third goal of the preseason. Malcolm Subban made 23 saves on 27 shots during the contest. Scott Kosmachuk potted the game-winning goal for the Avalanche while Pavel Francouz made 29 saves on 32 shots.
KEYS TO THE GAME
Start Well: Monday night was the first time that the Golden Knights didn't score a first-period goal all preseason. Vegas is known for its fast starts and, in order to get the win tonight, they'll need to have a strong first period.
Experience: With the home opener less than a week away, the Golden Knights roster is very close to being finalized, meaning that much of the team roster will play in the game.
FROM THE ROOMRyan Reaves
On past preseasons for him...
Normal procedure is I play every preseason game to make sure I can make the team still. This is a nice treat.
On saving his energy for the regular season...
When you first get into that physical game, your body is going to get a little banged up. I expect to be a little sore after today, but nothing different than any other year.
Gerard Gallant
On Ryan Carpenter practicing on the power play...
Carpy is Carpy. He's a reliable player and he plays a two-way game. He's working with the power play, it doesn't mean he's going to be on the power play on opening night, but he's working with it in front of the net. We like to have a right-hand shot there.
On Shea Theodore's presence on the ice and the team's reaction to having him back...
It's good to have him back. You miss a character kid when he's not with your group for the first week and a half and they got him back and they're having fun. They're ribbing him pretty good.
