EL PASO, Texas --In front of a spirited crowd inside El Paso County Events Center, the Dallas Stars and Arizona Coyotes put on a show in an entertaining preseason contest on Sunday.
Wearing their Victory Green home sweaters, the Stars earned their first win of the preseason - a 6-3 victory over the Coyotes. Six different players scored for Dallas, including Thomas Harley, Jamie Benn, Ty Dellandrea, Joe Pavelski, Tyler Seguin and Radek Faksa.

Jake Oettinger went the distance in goal for the Stars in his third start of the preseason.

On the flip side, the Coyotes suffered their first loss of the preseason. Shayne Gostisbehere, Liam O'Brien and Christian Fischer tallied goals for Arizona, who fell to 3-1-0 in exhibition play. Josef Korenar got the start in goal for the Coyotes.
The Stars and Coyotes were here because the city of El Paso won Kraft Hockeyville™ USA 2020, which earned its designation as 2020's most-spirited hockey community in America after garnering the most votes in the online Kraft Hockeyville™ USA 2020 contest. El Paso won $150,000 in rink upgrades from Kraft Heinz and $10,000 worth of new equipment from the NHLPA Goals & Dreams fund. The game was not hosted in 2020 due to COVID-19.

The Coyotes opened the scoring at the 6:39 mark of the opening frame when Gostisbehere sent a shot from the left point past Oettinger on the power play.
Dallas evened the score midway through the first when Harley's point shot made its way through a sea of bodies for his first goal of the preseason.

Benn put the Stars up 2-1 with 1:26 remaining in the opening frame when he tucked a wraparound behind Korenar for his second goal of the preseason. It was a terrific finish to a strong shift for the Stars captain, who kept the puck in the zone after forcing Coyotes defenseman Victor Soderstrom into a turnover at the blueline.

Arizona tied it just 20 seconds into the second period when O'Brien was sprung on a breakaway after stepping out of the penalty box for his first goal of the preseason.
Fischer gave the Coyotes the lead with a power-play strike 10:43 into the second period.
Dellandrea got one back for the Stars on a partial breakaway after a terrific outlet pass from Alexander Petrovic at the 14:22 mark of the second period.

Pavelski gave the Stars a 4-3 lead when Miro Heiskanen's point shot deflected off his body and past Korenar four minutes into the third.

Seguin added some insurance with a power-play goal at the 15:21 mark of the third.
Faksa put the game away with an empty-net goal with under a minute left in regulation to put the Stars up 6-3.
Dallas returns to action on Tuesday against the St. Louis Blues at American Airlines Center.
