SAN JOSE, CA - The San Jose Sharks (

) announced today that Captain Logan Couture (

) has been selected as the 2019-20 Sharks "Media Good Guy" award winner in a vote by the Bay Area media. The Award, which was created last season, is presented annually to the player who handles his media responsibilities with cooperation, honesty and thoughtfulness, and answers the bell no matter the outcome or situation.

"Logan Couture has always taken his media responsibilities seriously," said Kevin Kurz, chapter chair of the San Jose Professional Hockey Writer's Association. In his first season as team captain, and therefore, as the unofficial team spokesman, that didn't change despite some difficult circumstances."

Couture, 31, recorded 39 points (16goals, 23 assists) and finished with an even plus/minus rating in 52 games during his first season as the Sharks captain, In additional to the "Media Good Guy" award, Couture won the team's "Three Stars of the Year" award.

The six-foot-one, 200 pound native of Guelph, Ontario, represented the Sharks to the media on an almost-daily basis during the 2019-20 season, including multiple times on gamedays. His honesty, especially after losses or difficult periods, was appreciated by members of the local media.

Former Sharks defenseman Brenden Dillon was voted as the first winner of the award following the 2018-19 season and a panel of Bay Area media also inducted an introductory "class" of past Sharks players who also consistently handled themselves with professionalism and cooperation when dealing with the media.
