On Fri., March 3, the Bay Area Chapter of Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) will honor the San Jose Sharks (@SanJoseSharks) leadership team at the 9th annual Triple-Impact Competitor® Scholarship and Awards Program sponsored by Deloitte.
The Positive Coaching Alliance-SF Bay Area Triple-Impact Competitor Scholarship Award is a celebration of student-athletes who exhibit sportsmanship, character, and are leaders in their school community. The event showcases how the power of sports can prepare young people to succeed in life.
At this year's event, Sharks Head Coach Peter DeBoer will receive the Excellence in Leadership Award. Coach DeBoer was chosen for this award due to his effective leadership style, ethical decision-making framework, and skillful communication with Sharks players and assistant coaches. PCA feels he is the example of a coach who teaches and coaches with character. PCA will recognize Coach DeBoer for exemplifying the ideals of sportsmanship and being a true sporting role model.
Additionally, Chief Operating Officer John Tortora will be honored with a Triple-Impact Executive Award. PCA's Triple-Impact Executive award is given to an individual who models ethical business practice, integrity, discipline, work-ethic, and whose management style gets the most out of his employees. PCA will recognize John with this honor due to his reputation in the community as an executive, and for using his professional platform for the betterment of others.
Joining the two for a fireside chat will be Sharks General Manager and PCA National Advisory Board Member Doug Wilson. The panel will reflect on how the lessons learned from sports have played a role in their success. Finally, Sharks Radio Play-by-Play Announcer Dan Rusanowsky will serve as the master of ceremonies for the evening.
