Jonas Johansson

With just a few hours to go before the third and final game of the 2026-27 season’s opening road trip, the Senators have recalled a goaltender from their affiliate in Belleville.

Jonas Johansson will join the team in Detroit on Tuesday and will be available for the evening game against the Red Wings.

Johansson, 31, was acquired in a trade with the Tampa Bay Lightning on September 25 in exchange for future considerations. Immediately assigned to Belleville, he played in the American Hockey League club’s first two games of the season last weekend. He earned his first win of the season in the second game. By stopping 58 of the 64 shots he faced, he posted a save percentage of .914.

A native of Gävle, Sweden, Johansson has solid NHL experience. He has spent the last three seasons in the Tampa Bay Lightning organization. He posted an 11-10-2 record with a 3.29 goals-against average and a .884 save percentage during the 2025-26 season.

The Senators also announced Tuesday morning that Jorian Donovan has been loaned to the B-Sens. Recalled on Monday, the 22-year-old defenseman did not suit up for the game against the Boston Bruins.
