Sharpen Up: October 5, 2016

If you like shutouts then I hope you were watching last night's game. Robin Lehner was strong in net for the Sabres as they defeated Carolina 2-0 in preseason action from Marquette, Michigan.
Lehner made 28 saves en route to the shutout. He's ramping up for the start of the regular season. So are we. Here's what you need to know.

Let's take a look at the goals from last night.
Nicolas Deslauriers opened the scoring, putting home his own rebound on one knee.

To make it 2-0, Sam Reinhart deflected one in from in front of the net. Based on how he scored his goals last year, where else would he be? Jack Eichel made his preseason debut and recorded the secondary assist on the goal.

"You don't want to get in his bubble. He looks awesome. Before, he was already a good goalie and now it's maybe just that little step that he needed to be really dominant. Release the Hounds

Tonight, the Sabres and Hurricanes are back at it with another preseason contest at Essar Centre in Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.
With a few injuries up and down the lineup, Buffalo made some roster moves on Tuesday, bringing up five players from the AHL's Rochester Americans: forwards Justin Bailey, Jean Dupuy, Daniel Catenacci and Cole Schneider and defenseman Brady Austin. Schneider, Catenacci and Austin all got into last night's game and it's easy to imagine Catenacci would love to play in this particular back-to-back set.
He, Bailey and Dupuy all played for Sault Ste. Marie back in their junior hockey days so tonight's game will have extra meaning if any of them are in the lineup.
