The Buffalo Sabres will take part in the NHL Global Series next season, taking on the Lightning in Stockholm, Sweden on Nov. 8 and 9.
There are still nine games left in the regular season, so they'll turn the attention to the Montreal Canadiens for their match tomorrow night. That game kicks off a three-game road trip that continues in New Jersey on Monday and in Ottawa on Tuesday.
We'll have full coverage of today's practice and the road trip right here on Sabres.com.
Here's what you need to know.

Global Series reaction

SABRES NOW

From the Ice Level Practice Report…
With news of the Sabres' involvement at the 2019 NHL Global Series breaking at 10 a.m. in Sweden - and 5 a.m. in Buffalo - Rasmus Dahlin woke up on Thursday to a flurry of text messages from family and friends, thrilled about the opportunity to see the rookie defenseman play an NHL game in person.
"They were so happy and excited for the game," Dahlin said. "A lot of my friends, they can't see NHL hockey live because it's over here and it's expensive to fly and stuff like that. I'm super happy for that they can see the game in Sweden."
Linus Ullmark said he too woke up to texts from family and friends. His hometown of Lugnvik is a five-hour drive from Stockholm, which he said seemed far in Sweden but close now that he's made a home in Buffalo.

What Are The Odds?: Linus Ullmark

The goaltender said it would be meaningful to start a game in front of the Swedish fans, an experience he hopes to share with as many teammates as possible.
"It would mean a lot to me, yeah," he said. "Obviously, because you're on your home turf and you're playing in front of your fans and family that might not be able to come over here."

Yesterday's practice

The Sabres shuffled their forward lines, splitting the top-line trio of Jeff Skinner, Jack Eichel and Sam Reinhart in favor of balance up front. That included Nylander skating on a line with Eichel and Conor Sheary, an opportunity for the 21-year-old winger.
Nylander said he's looking forward to playing alongside Eichel, who leads the Sabres with 73 points this season.
"I think it's probably easier because you know what he's going to do, you know he can make plays and you know he can shoot the puck, too," he said. "You've just got to be aware all the time on the ice whenever he has the puck, because it can be right on your tape next. It's going to be really fun. I'm looking forward to it."
Here's how the Sabres lined up, with Zach Bogosian and Matt Hunwick absent on defense:
43 Conor Sheary - 9 Jack Eichel - 92 Alexander Nylander
53 Jeff Skinner - 71 Evan Rodrigues - 29 Jason Pominville
17 Vladimir Sobotka - 37 Casey Mittelstadt - 23 Sam Reinhart
28 Zemgus Girgensons - 22 Johan Larsson - 21 Kyle Okposo
Extra Forwards: 20 Scott Wilson, 72 Tage Thompson
Defense: 6 Marco Scandella, 8 Casey Nelson, 26 Rasmus Dahlin, 55 Rasmus Ristolainen, 62 Brandon Montour
40 Carter Hutton
35 Linus Ullmark

Brian Duff checked in on the former Sabres forward when we was in town for the annual Corporate Challenge. Here's a sampling (you can read the full Q&A here):
How did you end up with No. 76?
I wore 76 just really the one year [one game in 1994-95, two games in '95-96, and 45 games in '96-97]. It was because Charlie Huddy wore 22. I wore 22 in junior, and obviously Charlie Huddy had played so many games and won so many Stanley Cups I wasn't going to come in and take that from him. So, after my first year, he left, and I was able to get 22 again.
But that's my birth year and that's why I wore 76 for that one year.
Andrew Peters is the only other Sabre to wear 76.
Oh yeah, we've talked about that. The two 76 greats that have worn that jersey. Yeah right!
When you think back to the run in 1999, what do you think of?
Honestly, in my 14 years playing, it was my most enjoyable. Just from how the team came together.
And I really believe that when teams win championships, they need things to fall into place - whether it's injuries, or the right guy scoring at the right time, third and fourth-line scoring. We had a hard-working team, there's no doubt.
We had a good leader in Michael Peca and most of all, again, I think it's important that your best player be your goaltender and that's what we had [in Dominik Hasek] and I think he was in the minds of some teams. Especially when we played Ottawa in that first round.
In the first game, they might have outshot us by a large margin [the shots were 41-15 Ottawa] but Dom played great and we ended up winning that game [2-1]. And after that, it was free sailing. Just a great run. Lots of fun.
