Emerging From the Pack

  • John Gilmourrecorded three points (one goal, two assists) in three games during the week, as he tallied two assists on Nov. 23 at Bridgeport and registered a power play goal on Nov. 24 vs. Bridgeport. He has tallied a point in six of the last seven games, recording nine points (three goals, six assists) over the span, and he has registered 15 points (six goals, nine assists) in 22 games with Hartford this season. He is tied for fourth among AHL defensemen in goals and is tied for eighth among AHL defensemen in points in 2018-19, and he also leads Wolf Pack defensemen in goals, assists, and points thus far this season.
  • Boo Nievesregistered a power play assist on Nov. 24 vs. Bridgeport. The Rangers' second round pick (59th overall) in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft has recorded six points (two goals, four assists) in seven games with the Wolf Pack this season.
  • Ville Meskanennotched an assist and recorded three shots on goal on Nov. 21 vs. Providence. Meskanen, who was signed by the Rangers as a free agent on May 3, 2018, has tallied six points (three goals, three assists) in the last eight games and has registered 12 points (five goals, seven assists) in 22 games with Hartford in his first season in the AHL in 2018-19.

  • K'Andre Millertallied a power play assist on Nov. 24 against the University of Michigan. The Rangers' first round pick (22nd overall) in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft has tallied 10 points (two goals, eight assists) in 14 games with the University of Wisconsin this season. Miller is tied for the team lead - and leads Wisconsin defensemen - in assists, leads the team in plus/minus rating (plus-seven), ranks second in shots on goal (36), and is tied for third in points in 2018-19. In addition, Miller is tied for second among NCAA freshman defensemen in assists and points thus far this season.
  • Nils Lundkvisttallied an assist, tied for the game-high with four shots on goal, and posted a plus-one rating while playing with Lulea's U20 team against Leksands' U20 team on Nov. 25. He has played in three games with Lulea's U20 team in SuperElit this season, and he has registered two assists and a plus-five rating in those three contests. Last season, Lundkvist was selected as the Best Defenseman in SuperElit. The Rangers' first round pick (28th overall) in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft has also recorded six points (one goal, five assists) in 20 games with Lulea in the Swedish Hockey League (SHL) in 2018-19. The 18-year-old leads all SHL defensemen younger than 20 years old in assists and points thus far this season.
  • Riley Hughestallied an assist/point in each of the two games he played this week.*The Rangers' seventh round pick (216th overall) in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft extended his point streak to three games (two goals, two assists) and he has recorded a point in seven of the last eight games (eight goals, three assists over the last eight games). Hughes has recorded 28 points (14 goals, 14 assists) in 28 games with Victoria this season. He is tied for 12th in the BCHL in goals thus far in 2018-19. Hughes ranks second among BCHL rookies in goals, ranks fourth among BCHL rookies in points, and is tied for eighth among BCHL rookies in assists this season.
  • Joey Keanenotched an assist on Nov. 22 at Erie, and he posted a plus-two rating on Nov. 24 vs. Guelph. The Rangers' third round pick (88th overall) in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft has recorded seven assists/points in the last 11 games, and he has registered 16 points (three goals, 13 assists) and a plus-nine rating in 23 OHL games with Barrie this season. Keane ranks third on Barrie in power play assists (seven) and ranks sixth on the team in assists in 2018-19.
  • Igor Shesterkinstopped 24 of 25 shots he faced and earned a win on Nov. 22 against Severstal. The Rangers' fourth round pick (118th overall) in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft has posted a 12-3-0 record, along with a 1.40 GAA, a .943 SV%, and 4 SO in 15 KHL appearances with SKA this season. In 82 KHL appearances since the start of the 2016-17 season, Shesterkin has posted a 67-9-3 record, along with a 1.61 GAA, a .937 SV%, and 19 SO.
  • Tyler Wallposted a 1-1-0 record, along with a 2.04 GAA and a .907 SV% in two appearances during the past week, and he allowed two goals in each contest. The Rangers' sixth round pick (174th overall) in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft, who was named the Hockey East Player of the Week for the week ending on Nov. 18, has allowed two goals or fewer in each of his last five appearances, posting a 3-1-1 record, along with a 1.59 GAA, a .934 SV%, and 1 SO over the span.
