"It's definitely a lot more fun," he said. "Personally, I haven't been in this situation yet. It's a lot more exciting to play at this time of the year when we're in the position that we're in now. Just shows how important every point is and these games are going to be intense, they're going to be a playoff atmosphere so I'm ready for that and it's definitely exciting."
Jordan Eberle, another long-serving Oiler, was asked the same. He mentioned the team's new-found identity and how it's helped pave the way for success.
"Early on, we created a bit of an identity," he said. "Anything that's happened in the past, you kind of put that away, I think this is a new team. New guys on the team. We're a new team, it's pretty much that simple. That was our mentality coming in and we wanted to start and create a new identity for ourselves and I think we've done that. We have made a name for ourselves in this League and the biggest thing is trying to keep that swagger and understand that you can beat a lot of these teams if you play the way you can every night. I think if you look at some of the teams that won the Stanley Cup in the past, they've started to roll finishing the season and that's our mindset."
The Oilers are 31-19-8 and have 24 games remaining in the season.
