Captain Connor will wear the cheddar for the Pacific Division at the NHL All-Star game in Los Angeles, playing alongside the League's elite skaters.
With so much weight on the League's leading scorer, the weekend will hopefully be an opportunity for McDavid to offload some of it and have some fun.
"I want him to enjoy it," said Oilers Head Coach Todd McLellan. "These star players that go to these events, there's so much pressure on them every night to perform. They never get a chance to just go somewhere and breathe."
The Oilers commander edges out all other NHLers in assists and points, with 40 and 56, respectively. He's also steering the blue and orange towards their best season in years. It's safe to say the sophomore could use a break or even a change in pace. The NHL All-Star break could help with that.
"Just go enjoy it, meet people and take in the whole event," McLellan added. "Find some time for a little bit of rest, do what you do on the ice but zero stress. No stress at all."
