They're only two games into the regular season, but the top forward line that consists of Milan Lucic, Connor McDavid and Jordan Eberle feel they are really finding their stride with one another.
"I think we're getting better, I think that's the main thing," said Eberle. "Chemistry is not something that you're going to get right away. The more you play with somebody the more you know how they're going to play and it's going to get better, I still think We have a lot of area to improve. When you look at paper and the way that we each play, you see that it's going to be a good combination. That being said, games shift quickly and stuff switches, I think we have a lot of depth up in our forward area."
McDavid and Eberle may have what could be viewed as a "head start" on their familiarity with one another, having already established a player relationship on the ice when they skated out the remainder of the 2015-16 campaign on the same line after the centreman returned from injury in February.
Though they've had little time to really find their groove, with lots of time remaining to build on the already established spark that's been seen among the three forwards, McDavid said he feels quite adjusted in welcoming Lucic on his left-hand side.
"I feel very comfortable playing with those guys now," said McDavid. "I've said all along, we've been trying to get better and better each and every game. I think we've done that. We're getting a better understanding for each other, even in the d-zone there's a lot of reading off each other and I think we're getting better at that as well."
