EDMONTON, AB -Ty Rattie is up to seven points in the pre-season, Kailer Yamamoto has four and Jesse Puljujarvi struck twice in his past two outings.
To summarize, the Oilers right wingers have fared well thus far at Main Camp.
"The obvious answer is, 'Yes,'" said Oilers Head Coach Todd McLellan. "They took the direction that we gave them at the beginning of Camp and they've been very competitive. All of them have.
"But the concern there - and we answered this the other night - was the level of competition and type of play we've been up against."
McLellan believes the real evaluations will begin this week when the pre-season opponents ramp up their lineups and begin icing rosters that resemble regular seasons squads. The Oilers coach wants to see if his wingers can maintain their level of play.
"The second week is usually more valuable to a coaching staff because it starts to weed itself out," McLellan added. "The games get a little more competitive. The team we take to Winnipeg tomorrow won't be near as strong as the team we had here. I'm sure it will be the opposite for them. They'll probably have some of their big guns in the lineup and that's OK. We go there to win and we want to compete hard.
"It's a good evaluator for us when there's a little pressure put on us. How do we handle that? How do individuals play in those situations? It gives us a chance to evaluate and move on. Those right wingers are included in that group."
