EDMONTON, AB - The Oilers have two of the top three centreman in the league heading into next season, according to NHL Network's annual player rankings.
For the third straight year, Connor McDavid was selected as the top middle-man in the NHL, while reigning Hart, Ted Lindsay and Art Ross award winner Leon Draisaitl ranks third, with Colorado's Nathan MacKinnon sandwiched between them at number two.
"He's faster than anyone who's ever played," NHL Network's Mike Johnson said of McDavid, who finished second in league scoring behind Draisaitl in 2019-20 with 97 points in 64 games. "The combination of his speed, his hands and, maybe most importantly, his mind... He is, by a good margin, the best offensive player in the world."
"What he can do on the ice, five-on-five and five-on-four, is amazing," Johnson said of Draisaitl, who surpassed 100 points for the second straight season, leading the NHL with 110 in 71 games. "There's nothing he can't do."
McDavid and Draisaitl became the first teammates to finish one-two in NHL scoring since Tampa Bay's Martin St. Louis and Steven Stamkos did so during the lockout-shortened 2012-13 campaign.
