Prior to the slate of games scheduled for today, the Oilers sit fifth in the NHL standings with 19 points through 14 games. Their record of 9-4-1 contains some wins they maybe could have lost and some losses maybe they maybe should have won.
Overall, Head Coach Todd McLellan says it's a fair record for where the team is at now and how they've performed in the early goings.

"I thought early on in the year, the first four, five or six games we were giving up too much," said McLellan. "We were loose, we weren't checking or focusing on some of the tasks we do without the puck and potentially got away with some wins there. But in turn, it evens out later on.
"I think it's fair to say we're deserving of the record we have to this point. Where we go from here now will be up to the group and we've got to approach every night like it's the beginning of a new winning streak and get after teams. When we're aggressive and we're paying attention to our assignments all over the rink we're a hard team to play against."
