GLENDALE --Nine players notched a point for the Coyotes vs. the Rangers on Thursday night, but it was the seven penalties they took and four power-play goals they allowed that were the numbers that really stood out in New York's 6-3 victory at Gila River Arena.
"We weren't disciplined," forward Anthony Duclair said. "We talked about it before the game. We can't put them on the power play, and we did just that. We hurt ourselves and took costly penalties at costly moments."

Tied 3-3, center Martin Hanzal was called for holding at 13:41 of the third period. New York's Matt Puempel scored the game-winning goal 59 seconds later.
"The leadership's got to be better," Hanzal said. "It starts with myself. For example, tonight I took two stupid penalties and it cost us the game. So the leadership's got to be better."

Arizona lost all five games on a five-game homestand and allowed 10 power-play goals on 19 chances.
"We battled back to get it 3-3," Head Coach Dave Tippett said. "The Hanzal (holding) penalty is just a poor, poor penalty. Poor judgment ... for us to do a better job on the penalty kill, we have to do less penalty killing."
• Arizona's players held a meeting after the game. Reporters who entered the dressing room afterward noticed a somber mood.
"It should be somber," Tippett said. "A game like that where you're struggling to find wins and you beat yourself again, it should be somber. It should be sour, not somber. Real sour."

Tippett is hopeful the sobering, 0-for-5 homestand, and a season-long six game losing streak, will serve as a wake-up call for the Coyotes with 46 games left in the season.
"Having a five-game homestand and not even getting a point, it's just embarrassing and just not acceptable," Duclair said. "We had a players' meeting. It's just got to stop. We've got to put an end to it."
• Trailing 2-0, rookie Christian Dvorak scored his fourth goal of the season at 15:16 of the first period.
• Duclair, who scored one goal in his first 31 games of the season, scored his second in two games at 15:32 of the second period.
"I've just got to work my way through this personally," Duclair said. "No one's going to hand you goals. You've got to work for it."
