schmidt catch

Nate Schmidt knows how to play defense. The sport doesn't even matter.

The Vancouver Canucks defenseman who spent three seasons with the Vegas Golden Knights returned to the desert to play in the "Battle for Vegas" charity softball game on Saturday and made a highlight-reel catch in the outfield.

Schmidt, who we gather from the video clip was playing left-centerfield in a four-player outfield common in amateur softball, went way up and over the fence to rob a home run during the game.
Schmidt was immediately mobbed by his softball teammates, inclduing Golden Knights forward Ryan Reaves, who decided one jumping celebratory bump wasn't enough.
Schmidt was playing for Team Reilly, captained by Golden Knights forward Reilly Smith. They played against a team full of Las Vegas Raiders captained by former Raider and Pro Football Hall of Fame running back Marcus Allen.

While Team Marcus won the game 25-16 it was Schmidt who provided the big highlight catch.

Schmidt also

for Team Reilly with a clinching home run.
The big winners of course were Miracle Las Vegas and the Grant A Gift Autism Foundation which were the beneficiaries of the money raised through the game.
